Handguard keymod for AK and Saiga designed to extend carbine tactical performance by using special accessories increasing shooting accuracy and consistency. KeyMod main body is the metal base with "keyholes", another component of this system is the KeyMod nut. After appropriate installation of Weaver rails operator can mount bipods, tactical grips, and other accessories with Picatinny rail. As typically Saiga-based models are equipped only with side-mounted dovetail bracket then such handrail will significantly extend weapon performance. And it protects operator hands from burns as good as standard.

Comparing with RIS system, which has preinstalled Picatinny rails, KeyMod interface is more versatile, your weapon is lighter because of the absence of unused rails. The handrail is milled from aluminum alloy; surface coating can withstand friction and strong hits.
Handguard installation
KeyMod handguard installation procedure is easy. Remove original handrail, for AKM-based platforms you only need to field strip weapon and remove gas tube. The rotate pin near the barrel, slide handguard towards you and remove it. Installation is performed in reverse order.
Optional positions of Weaver rails at handguard and gas tube top cover. Weaver rails are not supplied with the handguard.
