Versatile mount – dovetail.
Almost all AK-based Saiga carbines are equipped with dovetail rail. This rail allows mounting special bracket with Weaver-Picatinny rail on it.
Dovetail rail is usually made from aviation-grade aluminum and has 1 or 2 Weaver rails for accessory gear. Bracket mount on the dovetail rail with bolts located at the bottom. These bolts shall be torqued sequentially by supplied hex key. On this model 2 Weaver rails are integrated in the body to eliminate loosening during fire.
Dovetail rail is convenient because allow to mount 2 gears simultaneously, it could be optic scope at the top and flashlight at the side. If you are not planning frequently remove dovetail rail it’s advised to apply Loctite on the threads (red or blue – your choice)
Dovetail rail – easy 3 stage installation
1. Install bracket on dovetail rail.
Through piece of wood position bracket in place by hammer, then torque bolts with Loctite applied.
