Next minute after the invention of the firearm it became clear that it is uncomfortable and impractically to always carry it in hands. Since then slings were used. At the beginning, it was just leather belts attached to the weapon and allowed to carry it in a certain position. With time form, material, and design of these belts changes.

Advantages of single point tactical slings:
Single point sling – essential accessory for the hunter. From the name, it appears that this sling is attached to the weapon at one point.
Typically, this type of sling is used if carbine or rifle length is less than one meter. This sling is a simple loop settled over hunter’s shoulder and neck. Attached to the weapon with one swivel. Usually, it attached to the small of the buttstock, also can be attached to the butt plate. Because of only one attachment point weapon hangs free, muzzle down, so it is better when this point is located higher. Some versions of single point slings have quick drop option. This option is implemented by fastex closure on the belt near the carbine which connects it with the loop. With this option, the weapon can be detached in split second. For more comfort, this belt can be elastic with a protective jacket.
Single point attachment system has one major advantage. With such tactical sling, you can arm and be ready to fire very fast. And because weapon hangs freely it can be fired from any shoulder.
Disadvantages of single point tactical slings
Single point tactical slings also have a few disadvantages. When you release the weapon it stars to dangle and you cannot control its position. For hunter traveling through the wood, it is very inconvenient – it starts to catch branches and hit shooter legs. Also, it is very difficult to crouch and bend – muzzle can easily hit the ground and became clogged.
To avoid this issue can be used special accessories – “catchers” attached to the belt and allowing to fixate barrel or buttstock with the velcro.
Single point sling – outstanding tool for the fast moving hunter. But it requires some special accessories and certain practice.
